Vax S7 vs Morphy Richards all in one steam cleaners

Has anyone used either of these? I have a Vax steam mop but am thinking of ebaying it and buying one of the all in one cleaners.

Amazon has great deals on the two above at the moment but I can't decide between them!

Interesting you ask this, I was just coming to ask if anyone has the VAX Steam Fresh Combi S86-SF-C Steam Mop.

I'm considering buying this one at the weekend. I have a cheap steam mop which frankly is awful. I have laminate downstairs, tiled floor in the kitchen and vinyl in the bathroom. I've also got a little dog who's in and out leaving me pawprints throughout the house.

My questions are thus....

Does it steam well?
Do the pads stay on? (Cheap crap one I'm forever reattaching the pad)
Does the hand held work as well as a stand alone hand held?
Can you use other fluid in there?

Don't really want to spend £99 on it if I'm better with a mop and bucket Blush

Just seen your post! I currently have a vax steam cleaner but not that model. It is ok, steams well and I bought the extra microfibre pads off amazon and they stay on well. But if you look ok amazon at the all in one steam cleaners, ie not just a mop but a detachable steamer, they have the vax and morphy Richards one for £50 at the mo. So you'd get the mop aspect and all the extras for half the above.

I bit the bullet and went for the morphy Richards one, hasn't arrived yet but will report back when I've tried it.

I have the Morphy Richards 9 in 1 one. I really like it. It's dead easy to set up and doesn't take up much space in your house. It's also really light to use.

Little update. I got the MR one, have used it to do the floor which I didn't rate at all. Nowhere near as good as my vax mop, which I shall now be keeping. I was about to package it up and send it back when I decided to at least try the steam cleaning bit....then spent 2.5 hours on my cooker! And it isn't even finished. It was great for getting all the grease and grime out of joints and hinges etc but it is slow as the steam only seems to come in short bursts. My main gripe is that the cord is really short, can't see how I will be able to do my bathrooms without linking up some extension leads which is a bit of a pain. Will prob keep it though as I bought it with a voucher so didn't actually cost me much. Would be interested to try other brands though.

Update from me too...I bought the Vax. I wasn't planning to really but had a wander in John Lewis as I'd got an hour to kill before picking DS up from the airport. Oh my god it's brilliant. My floors are sparkling and take minutes. The handheld is also quite fabulous. I've used it daily, it's literally minutes to plug in, steam the hall floor (always the dirtiest) and put it away

The cord on the Vax is very long Sunny, I can actually reach from my hall to my conservatory without replugging in the dining room, something even the dyson can't do. Thrilled with it.

Oh no, I knew I should have gone for the vax. I wonder if amazon will exchange it for me. Thinking about it I have the vax Hoover and steam mop and am very happy with them both. I might contact them, they're usually great with returns.

I recently bought the morphy Richards 9 in 1. I do not like it at all. Mainly for my kitchen floor which gets scummy very quickly. It is lino and the mop is very hard to use on it. ... It glides more easily over the tiles in the hall. The other thing I was actually looking forward to cleaning with it is my bathroom. Well. ... again, not happy. ... the cord is too short without an extension. Then it just puffs steam out. .. Didn't shift any of the dirt at all. so disappointedSad Took at it this morning the old fashioned way with viakal and a scrubbing brush.... and result! AIBU to expect a steam cleaner to clean? Am I missing some trick with it? Tempted to sell it on gumtree.

Just seen this Happy, glad I'm not the only one less than impressed. The short cord is just ridiculous. I think I will contact amazon to see if they will take it back. You should def sell it on gumtree if you can get a good price!

Amazon should take it back if it's within 30 days. I got one and sent it back a few days later because I found it very feeble. I got a cylinder type steam cleaner instead, not quite as convenient for floors but really powerful.

I have a brilliant steamer, think it's called the H2O or something. It's always being advertised on shopping channels. I bought it after even my (then) 10yo DS was transfixed by the advert: 'mum we have to get this!')

It's a floor steamer, carpet steamer, windows cleaner, clothes steamer and all round fabulous piece of kit. Very long lead too. Lightweight and it's ridiculously satisfying to use it in the bathroom.

Think it was about £80ish. Well worth it, you won't regret it.
