Area above upstands

Our new kitchen has upstands and we were planning on paint above it but our tap is a bit splashy so wondering If we should tile after all.

But I loathe keeping grouting clean so would prefer paint i can just wipe down. Am I making a huge mistake?

if the upstands are chipboard with a vinyl wrap, they will not last long behind the sink. A water-resistant treatment like tiles or a splashback will last longer there.

We have a larger granite upstand above the sink. It still gets splashed though, with water, washing up liquid etc. I think a large glass up stand is a good idea.
