Sorry, I don't have that machine you're looking at, but thought I would comment.
Whirlpool appliances are becoming rarer and not as many are on sale. In fact I did hear that they were pulling out of the UK market - I can't remember where though.
I do, however, have 2 Whirlpool Top Loading machines, the USA style ones, and they're fine for what they do. However, they are totally different to front loading machines of course.
I did have a Whirlpool dishwasher, when I was growing up, and it is still going now - possibly 11-12 years old.
Also my granddad does have a Whirlpool washing machine, and he has not mentioned any problems, its not the same model you're looking at and I think it's only about 1 year old.
My personal recommendation would be Bosch, they are fantastic machines, also in my experience, avoid Samsung washing machines at all costs.
I have an LG now, which is fine, but again, only about 6 months old.
