HAIR APOCALYPSE - help needed!

I have long dark hair. DH is an averagely hairy man. We have no pets. Our house is constantly covered in hair! I swept the stairs (wooden), microfibred them with polish and 1/2 a day later they were encrusted with hair again. I am starting to think we're both going bald! Any tips...?

Shave your heads.
Seriously though, what vacuum do you use?

JimmyCorkhill · 20/08/2014 14:24

I get this. My long dark hair everywhere. It's worse in this house because of the laminate flooring. I'm no help to you, I'm watching for advice myself. All I can think of is getting a short hair cut Sad

I meant worse in this house compared to my previous carpeted home. I wasn't being competitive with you Grin

We have a Miele Hoover ... Not too sure on the detail Grin

Watching with interest! I have exactly the same problem. Since I had DD nearly 9 months ago my hair is constantly everywhere :-(

Where do you brush your hair? My mum used to have a rule which was that hair should always be brushed in the bathroom! I guess I now know why.... It's easier to contain and clean that way.

JimmyCorkhill · 27/08/2014 21:52

I only brush my hair in the bathroom and I clean my brush after every use, putting the hairs in the bin. I am seriously debating a pixie cut.

Like Beetlebum this has happened since DD2 was born but only recently and she's almost one and a half.

Now that you mention it, I went through a similar phase after I had DS Blush ! I think it's a hormonal thing. If so, it will pass. X

I recently broke a Hoover because of my hair shedding. I told dh I'd brush carpet before he hoovered. I didn't. He hoovered. Hoover gave up.

It's awful. Hair just falls out everywhere. I've got a lot of it so no worries re going bald but still...

Brush your hair in one location only. If it's carpeted, you can get the hair up with a cheap hairbrush, the kind with metal or stiff plastic bristles, use it just for the carpet obviously! Then vacuum afterwards, it will stop the vacuum getting clogged as well.

brush your hair every night before bed, 100 strokes with a good brush. It will strip out the loose hairs and stop you shedding quite so much throughout the next day.

You can also try a skin/hair/nails supplement to reduce the shedding if you think the amount is abnormal.

In terms of picking it up obviously a hoover will have the greatest effect ) our dyson animal is great for hair) but I also had quite a bit of success with a rubber broom.
