Toaster fire - chuck it?

We had fairly meaningful flames coming out of our toaster in the week, due to me trying to toast a too-big roll- will the electrics now be unsafe? DH used it successfully today, but I am nervous...

Chuck it. Thermostat may now be dodgy. Not worth the risk for the cost of new.

I had one that melted down. V scary.

You'd really throw a toaster away after some bread in it caught? Wow. If it wasn't safe, surely it just wouldn't work, but even then that could be down to a fuse doing its job. If your DH used it, OP, and it worked fine, I would stick with it. Make sure you empty the crumb tray regularly.

Just empty the crumb tray, use a brush to make sure that there is no bread stuck to the wires. Don't leave plugged in all the time.
If it wasn't an investment & you're very nervous,get rid but I wouldn't personally.

Thanks all; have decided that we'll chuck it Smile
