Using Washing Machine & Tumble Drier

Could anyone tell me how much it costs to do a standard load, say at 40" and then to dry in machine. Roughly? I have paying guests, usually international that come to me after "doing" London or somewhere else and so require serious laundry services which I am happy to provide but need to calculate a charge. I was wondering if £3 would cover the electricity? not bothered about making a profit on it.

looking at recent "Which" tests, a 40C wash uses about 13p worth of electricity.

In the drier, a full load costs between about 30p and about 60p in electricity, depending if it is light synthetic or heavy cotton. Mixed loads in between.

An older or less efficient machine will cost more.

£3 would cover your energy, powder and softener costs, and contribute a bit towards eventual repair or replacement. I don't know what your time is worth. A laundrette would cost significantly more.

Thank you very much for the information PigletJohn! I was way out in my estimation, but take on board the comment about replacement/wear & tear etc.
