I've gone Anthea crazy! Am I going mad?

Ever since I started watching a perfect housewife I have not stopped cleaning. My task is one job a day, but when I start cleaning I can't stop.
I have a confession, I do have a cleaner, she comes one afternoon a week, and cleans the wooden floors and irons etc. But since I started cleaning myself properly, I have noticed my cleaner has not been doing what I thought she had and the place is filthy. Its my fault for relying on someone else, and I am trying to get on top of it now.
My place is so dirty, and it's like starting from scratch cleaning each room properly. I cleaned the bathroom today and got the toilet roll holder shining like new, it has not looked like this in 4 years , I thought the chrome had rusted !!!
So has anyone else noticed how filthy their place is since they started cleaning a'la Anthea
and what top tips do you have?
I have been using the white vinegar, water and lavender oil for an all purpose cleaner, I have no bicarb, but it seems to work ok without. I love reading this website by the way, have picked up loads of hints!!

Blimey - you're a bit keen - I prefer to watch the programmes rather than actually doing anything. I do have nicely folded towels though.

and nicely folded t shirts?

i have my days were cannot stop cleaning and love it and others where i cant be bothered - what is annoying is when i havent cleaned properly for a few days and people comment on how nice the place looks but yet when ive slogged my guts out there isnt a positive word to be said

I am a cleanaholic anyway but nice to pick up tips.

I love anthea! The prog is brilliant

I know it sounds bizarre but I really find that this programme does get me doing much more than I used to; it's great that I always looked towards my career andmaking the most of my abilities, and I never hankered after a house or husband/kids etc when I was growing up. The trouble is as I've gone on in life I have acquired house, DH and DS and while I am not working, am in the house alot, doing alot and the place is more my responsibility now (not totally by any means, dh does his bit). But progs like this actually make me take a bit of pride in what I do; and that is a good feeling when being at home is much of your life. We've gone so far towards careers etc that we have definitely stopped valuing what we make of our home and that's a shame because as mums we have to do both career AND home and it's a drag to do a totally unvalued task.

imho.

That's all a bit deep I know.

It's mainly the towel folding that's changed my life.

Sunnysideup, I totally agree with you. All this Anthea malarky has given me a project, kind of like a purpose, I'm learning housekeeping skills I never got taught or witnessed when I was a kid, so although I may seem mad or nutty, I am getting such satisfaction out of seeing my home look nice and clean and it makes me happy. I found bicard of soda today in the supermarket and nearly wept with joy! only joking....or am I? hahaha!

Oh and don't get me started on t-shirt and towel folding....I've redone my wardrobe, its a joy to be seen. I can't get to grips with the fitted sheet folding though, but I would prefer to mess about with my vinegar spray then attempt to fold weird shaped things.
