Hallway storage!

Help. I seem to be useless at this.

Our hallway is an odd shape with not much wall space.

How do you store winter stuff. Hats shoes scarves bags etc etc.

I'm thinking shelves, boxes, hooks but can't find things to fit the space that provide enough storage.

We also have a dado rail and the previous occupants have annoyingly put the alarm and thermostat on the most obvious wallAngry

The most obvious solution of a tall boy, cupboard/wardrobe etc isn't going to work.

Would something like this work? www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/9064645/searchTerm/Hall+storage.htm
Something that you can put baskets in and store your shoes and hats in and then put hooks or a hook rail up for your coats as presumably if doesn't matter if there's coats covering the thermostat as they can just be pushed out of the way?

It's to big. I have a width of 59cm and depth of only 30cm! I'm thinking a hat rack with boxes in top but can't find one that fits.

We have hooks (from Ikea) attached to the wall in a staggered up and down pattern for coats then a shelf above them with hats, gloves, scarves, bike helmets on it - you could easily put storage boxes on it for neatness/to fit more on. Beneath the coats, you could fit a low-level shelf on brackets and store boxes underneath that and have gloves, umbrellas, etc on that shelf at a level that's easy for kids to reach, or something like mmmmmm's suggestion. Just keeps things tidy. We can't have a cupboard because of the radiator position.

I'm actually thinking we should get some nice storage boxes for the top shelf now - less dusty and we'll get more on it.

Wow that might work!

We have the shoe cabinet from ikea for shoes, boots & use the top drawer for hats, sunscreen etc.

We're just moving from a place with a sort of 12ft by 7ft hall to a tiny 3ft-4ft wide one, which is still longish but width is an issue.

I don't know where we will put anything! High up hooks on high walls are one option, if you have the ceiling height, and a shelf on top with boxes for winter gear etc, but I think we are going to migrate most of our shoes and so on up the stairs to the landing, and store unseasonable stuff elsewhere.
