steam generator irons

..... Which one shall I buy?

I thought about it 2/3 years ago and bought a £12.99 Bertie basic iron from Sainsburys to tied my over while I did my research into which one to buy.
I'm still using that cheap one and cursing every time .
Any recommendations please??

i have this one but only paid £100 for it I think there is a newer version, but it is worth the money.

A tip is make sure you get one with a long steam hose so that you can leave it on the floor and dont have to lift it.

We have a Lelit, which is sort of like the Dualit of irons. It was very expensive, but cuts ironing time down hugely, and has a 5 year warranty.

We were sick of irons (including steam generators) lasting a year. It was always Christmas time, too. One year, DH felt very embarrassed queuing up on Christmas Eve to buy an iron - he was sure everyone would think it was my Christmas present!

I have a Bosch one that I got half price from John Lewis for around £125. I love it.

If you are an unskilled ironer do these irons turn you into an expert? Genuine question. I hate ironing as I feel it's a lot of effort for minimal return. However, I have visions of therapeutic hours surrounded by warming clouds of steam as I make all my clothes look perfect

Definitely gets the creases out of dry cottons or linen. They also steam through several layers, so ironing is much quicker. The iron itself is cooler so less chance of catching and leaving iron shapes in your ironing.

I've had a Tefal for about 5 years. It's great but heavy. I also have a light steam iron for a 'quick' ( one item) job when I cba getting the big one out of the cupboard.

I got and still have a Bosch one, a bit like bruffins and that's great.

I got a Phillips one later on as I generally do stupid things and buy newer household gadgets even though I don't need them at the time.

And the Phillips one is shocking, its about 3 months old and it now insists on spewing up brown water all over anythingI iron.Quite a few people on phillips website have reported the exact same problem.

*sorry on mobile. So I wish I never got the Phillips. Surprised actually as I also have a normal iron which is Phillips and that's been fantastic and its 6 year old.

I had a philips before the Bosch and was good as well but it blew up after about 5 years.

I forgot to say normal irons dont last me more than a year or so, so in the long run steam generators are good value for me

Ooh, I'm very tempted now...but not the Philips one

So I bought a Bosch one and have been ironing for about 15 minutes with it this morning and I have rubbed a sore bit on my wrist!
Looking at the design, where the lead goes from generator to the iron, it has a large plastic lip that sticks out and that has been rubbing my wrist. Luckily I bought it from John Lewis and they have agreed it is a design fault and will replace or refund.
That's great news but now I have to choose again!!
So, I'm only going to buy an exact model that somebody recommends.
Please?
