rat or mouse urine

Two questions really as I am freaking out. I have an anxiety disorder which is being treated but I know I can blow things out of proportion. DH is clearing his late father's rural home and yesterday moved a cardboard box in a cupboard to discover a lot of rat urine. He was wearing rubber gloves. Moving the box generated a cloud of ammonia smelling stuff from the dried urine as the box was kind of stuck down. He says he can still smell and taste it from yesterday.

Is he going to be ill?

We are going to clean up using rubber gloves and face masks later in the week. Should we take any other precautions?

No!

Smelling it won't make you ill.

Gloves and covering wounds with a waterproof plaster are wise precautions though.

Thanks. It is like he is sneezing it up. I don't think that the warm weather helped. We will probably do the rest when the weather is slightly cooler.

He won't get I'll from breathing it I have a pet rat who tends to pee on me Grin Dilute zoflora is what iI use to clean her cage and it kills the smell off beautifully.

Great. I will invest in some zoflora!
