Any Oven-Cleaning-Dodgers want a date with their oven?

I've decided its high time I cleaned my oven.
I have bought my oven pride, got gloves and am ready to go but seriously can't face it. (its been 2yrs+)

Anyone want to set a date to do theirs and motivate me?

Good luck, i did mine last week-mr muscle...looks fantastic

Jahan, leave the grill trays and other shelfy bits in the bags overnight.
Get a scrubby sponge out and layer the gloop onto your oven door and sides, then shut the door and also leave overnight.
When you get up tomorrow all you have to do is rinse everything off! It's great stuff, I swear by it!!

Put a sticky note on to remind everyone to leave the oven alone tho'.

hie,hie,hie...I always fake asthma when it's oven time, so dh gets the job!!!!!!

southeastastra · 14/09/2006 19:29

use wire wool on the shelves haha i have to do mine too!

Mum2FunkyDude · 14/09/2006 19:29

those toxic fumes from the oven cleaner is too much.

gigglinggoblin · 14/09/2006 19:32

bet my oven is worse than anyone elses on here

moved into this house 2 months ago, mr muscle didnt shift anything, oven pride got some off. dp dismantled the fan and washed an inch of fat off, my mum attacked it with a knife but couldnt get anything off. its disgusting, cant have been cleaned for 10 years or more. if anyone knows anything better than oven pride i would be eternally grateful cos i just dont use it atm!

quokka · 14/09/2006 19:33

isn't there people you can pay to do it?

gigglinggoblin · 14/09/2006 19:33

probably, if i had some spare cash!

quokka · 14/09/2006 19:35

just slowly collect all the £1 coins from dh pockets and you'll be there in no time!

gigglinggoblin · 14/09/2006 19:36

then i could get them round while he was at work and tell him i had been slaving away cleaning it all day

southeastastra · 14/09/2006 19:37

the best thing to use if it is really bad is sandpaper, if it's really baked on mr muscle will only take the top layer off. (and give you a headache!)

quokka · 14/09/2006 19:37

now you've got the idea, keep going!

sorkycake · 14/09/2006 19:41

I have to admit I'm a fairly non-toxic buying kinda girl, but I hate scrubbing my oven even more!
Oven pride is the only non-eco product I buy cos it just is the best for cleaning my oven.
If I leave it overnight then I figure it's better then, then when the kids are up and about, means we can go to the park for longer in the time I've saved from not scrubbing.
It's slightly less fumy than mr.muscle I've found.

Jahan · 15/09/2006 08:23

I am doing it tonight.
