I know this can't really be avoided but I must be doing something wrong as I see photos of everybody elses children in lovely sized paddling pools that I doubt get washed and emptied daily.

we only have little paddling pools/water trays etc around the garden. I try and remember to empty at the end of each day but sometimes I forget. but it's never in there for that long really. but its constantly green. I'm washing it regularly with the very powerful hose (every time I fill it up really). but it's still constantly green. It doesn't have a cover.

if I bought a little kids gazebo, so it was always in the shade - would that help? we don't really have suitable shade in our garden.

or is there anything else I'm missing? the kids love the water play, especially my 18month old. but it's turning into a massive chore that's driving me insane.

I really wanted to get a bigger pool for the summer holidays (not big enough to warrant filters etc just big enough that the kids can all get in it at least) but not if we can't keep it clean. Sad

I would give them both a good wash with bleach and hot water. Then rinse really well and refill.

Just had a google and you can get floating chlorine dispensers that you put chlorine tablets into. You take it out when dcs want to use the pool.
