Oh no! Fish in my Birkenstocks!

I was defrosting some mackerel, and, when I picked the bag up, fishy water poured out - all over my feet!

I can wash my feet (and my trousers, and the floor) but what about my Birkenstocks? The stuff flooded the footbed and has soaked right it.

How can I clean them?

How about lots of bicarbonate sprinkled all over to soak up the fish? Leave to dry and repeat if necessary. Fishy Birkenstocks are not desirable!

Put them in a pillow case to protect your machine and put them through the wash! Just do it on a hot day so they dry quickly.

Really? I've machine washed trainers, but never Birkenstocks.
