HELP! Stain in new blanket that I can't get out.

Have lovely new blanket (knitted 100% cotton) that we used for DS's christening. Was walking down the road yesterday when some idiot threw a plum out of their car window hitting the blanket (and me . . lovely). Washed it as soon as we got home, but stain still there. It's currently soaking in a mild bleach solution but stain still there.

Can anyone help?

Poor you! Hope it didn't hurt
Did you wash in hot? Might have "set" the stain.
Not v eco friendly but Bio-tex works wonders.
If it's cotton, you could try a stronger bleach solution maybe? just be sure to rinse?
Good luck

Have just had a look in my stain book (present from mil) and it says to treat stone fruit stains with glycerine. Never tried it myself so no idea if it works, but worth a try.

Don't use chlorine bleach as that will weaken the fibres in the long run. Washing does unfortunately set stains, they're better treated first and then washed. Glycerine is quite good at getting out all sorts of stains, but the best thing I've found is Oxi-Clean spray - not the powder - it seems to shift most things.

Thanks for advice . . . didn't know washing would set the stain . . . I'll never make a domestic goddess.

Domestic goddess? Nah - just experience, and a dd who is an incredibly messy eater.
