How much children's bedroom storage - toys and clothes

How much storage do your children have in their bedrooms for toys and clothes to the nearest half metre (ish!) (ages of children would be helpful)

And..is it enough?!

Dd (2.5) a two drawer chest of drawers for clothes. A bookshelf (tall one) with two shelves of books, a shelf for blankets and sheets, a shelf for soft toys and the top shelfis for photos, albums, trinkets etc

Not in her room yet but will be soon is the three-teired trofast system with assorted drawers and a big rubber bucket (like the cement mixer ones if that makes sense).

Its enough. Its just half in her room.and half.in the lounge as she is yet to move into the bigger bedroom. One thing she does need is a rail to start hanging her school uniform on (starts nursery in jan).

We re-did DS1's bedroom on saturday and DS2's is planned for a fortnight's time. DS1 is nine. He has double wardrobe, chest of drawers (three wide two small) two bedside cabinets, desk with two shelves above, book shelf, tall boy chest for pants socks etc and a toy box at the end of the bed. His room is 4.5 metres by 4metres

DS2 (7) currently has two bedside cabinets, wardrobe and chest of drawers with two shelves above but we need to incorporate a bookcase and if we can, a desk. His room is 4 metres by 3.5 metres.

With boys we are finding that the problem is book and lego storage. The lego sets are not very robust and need shelving or display space otherwise they are broken very easily.

We also have a playroom. If we didn't their rooms would be overflowing!

2 drawers for clothes

my 2 girls share their clothes and have a double wardrobe with 2 rails for all their dresses and tops etc, a shelf for trousers and leggings etc.

A chest of drawers for stuff like underwear and tights etc. another chest of drawers downstairs for uniform as they get ready downstairs in the morning. and i still struggle to fit it all in.
i am not wondering if they have far too many clothes i already got rid of loads!

my son's (newborn and 18 months) have a large chest of drawers each. think they have about 7 drawers in. I find this perfect size for them. But find boys have less stuff than girls.

oh and they all have their own large drawer for shoes and hats etc in the hallway by the front door.

Ds (10) has the 6 drawer malm chest of drawers from Ikea. 4 wide drawers and 2 half width.

1/2 drawer for underwear/socks
1/2 drawer for football/swimming kit
1 drawer for school uniform
1 drawer for tops & jumpers
1 drawer for trousers shorts & PJs
1 drawer for spare bedlinen

He has a couple of shirts that hang in his brother's wardrobe.

Toys wise he has 3 plastic bins that sit under built in shelving. A shelf for games and boxed toys. A shelf of books. A shelf of stuff like money box, things he's made etc. Top shelf is for built Lego models. Lots of stuff is in other rooms as well though.

Just don't ask.
IME children fill up every available corner of your house, garden and several sheds, with stuff. Especially as they are aided and abetted by DH who not only shares DD1's stuff generating hobby, but is a club officer and stores loan stuff too. So being teens has not improved things.

I have taken bags and bags of stuff to the charity shop recently and given a bookcase full of books to the primary, but we still have of Lego, Playmobil, craft stuff and soft toys that people still use occasionally or don't want to get rid of. All in addition to clothes, makeup, hair straighteners, curlers and normal Teen DD stuff.

Suffice to say two bedrooms, most of the dinning room bookcases and the conservatory are full of DDs stuff.

Thanks everyone! We are selling our house and want to dress the spare room to show it can be a bedroom with storage space (no nooks or obvious crannies just a good ole square room)
Not sure it has capacity for all you've listed but should be able to give a good impression

Haha Elephants I have a DH overgrown manchild that's sound just like that

He has masses of computer/electronic junk too.
I don't really object, he is an overgrown little boy, he has to be doing something. He can't just sit in front of the TV and chill.

Daughter is 3, son is 6. One big wardrobe each with drawers on one half of the lower area and suitcases and bags on the other. Shoes stores on the doors. All clothes that fit are in here. Clothes that are too small are given to friends. Clothes that don't fit yet are under their beds along with ski clothes and winter coats and boots...in winter they will be swapped for the swimsuits etc. in the wardrobes at the moment.

For toys they have a 9 "hole" bookshelf / shelving unit type arrangement each with each hole 50cm by 50cm. Some holes have boxes for putting toys in and others are empty for displaying dolls, cars, eyc. My son has a child's desk with a desk tidy for papers. My daughter has a play table with a drawer underneath for papers and pens. Both have a 3 shel f bookshelf (about a metre long) and we have another bigger bookcase in the living roo.

DS is 6.

Clothes - chest of drawers, made up of three small drawers (one for socks, one for pants and one for simsuits, hankies, sunhats etc), big drawer for trousers and another big drawer for pyjamas and shorts and bits and bobs; double wardrobe where all clothes except shorts and trousers are hung up; inside the wardrobe there are 2 drawers, one for bedding and one for clothes which he has yet to grow into and I have bought in sales and couldn't resist!

Toys - 3 big but shallow Ikea tubs under the bed (two for soft toys, one for Duplo); two bookcases which are these ones Besta - one for books and one for toys and stationery and bits and bobs.

He also has a bedside table, but that just has a lamp and clock and a few books on it.

Most of his toys are downstairs though. Nearly all books are upstairs.

Ds1 age 4 near 5 - one divan bed with two drawers which holds education stuff, spare sheets and folk outfit.

One 3 drawer chest Mamet -sp- ikea to hold clothes. Pants, pjs and vests top drawer, trousers and jumpers next then t shirts bottom. When he starts primary in September i am going to get one of those rack of hooks -5- for school uniform and bag.

Hook behind door for towel.

One bookcase and one art easal - paint is kept under my bed so it can be more supervised!

Toys kept in hall cupboard - 6 x 30 litre boxes, one 74l plus garage, cooker and box of cooking stuff and 2 boxes of mega blocks. Playmobil in other hall cupboard on a shelf.

Shoes x 2, slippers and wellies are on shoe rack in hall.

Btw his room is only 2.5 m by 3.5!!! So very small

Does he have drawers under his bed? Also if you buy a play/colouring table look for one with a drawer underneath as then he can put away his own pens and papers (failing that just get a kind of shoebox). The shoe keepers on the back of the wardrobe door are great space savers. You could get a toybox to keep in another part of the house, if he has a wheely suitcase use that ( when you're not on hols!) then it's easy to wheel into his room in one go when he wants to play then get him to put everything back afterwards.
