food flies in my kitchen - HELP!

there are black food flies in my kitchen because Dh opened our compost bin .

i've opened the back door but what else can i do? they seem to be flying around the house as well... anyone have any ideas what to do?

Maybe leave something very sweet and sticky out so they get caught in it - honey maybe or jam? Would they fly into beer and drown in it?

We had that and had to move the compost bin to the other end of the garden. Now no problem at all.
