Best cleaning tips for grease build up on kitchen cabinets, help me please.

I seem to be the only person who is in my house (PIL live here mostly) who gives a shite about cleaning the grease off the cupboards.
I've came back after 8 months and the cupboards are caked in sticky grease and tbh I don't fancy standing there for hours scrubbing away with degreaser AGAIN

I'm going to tackle it next week when mil is around to overtly show her how to do it and that hopefully it's easy :)
I try to avoid chemicals where possible (asthmatic) so I'm thinking maybe some dish washer tabs made in to a paste - white vinegar - bicarb
Does anyone think any/all of these will work?
Give me tips lovely ladies (or gents if there's any here) please. I beg you.

Sugar soap. In decorating aisle in DIY stores. Amazing stuff. Cheap too.

I'll have a try scrubbing it first but would consider a steamer.

Microfibre cloth (e-cloth).

I use Ecover citrus degreaser which is very friendly and smells lovely

Method grapefruit kitchen cleaner is very effective & smells nice & isn't toxic

If your cupboards are panelled rather than flat, you can spray it on, scrub into corners/moulding with a soft kitchen brush & then wipe off with a damp microfibre cloth

Bit more expensive than eg Flash but much nicer to use & no froth

Not sure if it's a good tip, but for the tops of your kitchen cabinets, line with newspaper. Easier to clean.

Are any of these comparable to Cilit bang?
I got dh to spray a bit on earlier and it didn't touch it at all which makes me very reluctant to spend hours scrubbing away with it.

The worst are the cooker hood front and the cupboards around it so not too many.
I'm actually really annoyed that it's not at least wiped down once a week. There would be a hell of a lot less build up than there is now.

I've never used Cillit Bang but have used eg Flash & Cif, & Method is much more effective than either of those

Fairy Power Spray does the job. Cilit bang doesn't touch it. I hardly ever clean

Fairy Power Spray is good for things like oven trays with baked-on grease, but a) it's not nice to use & b) it requires oven gloves - it's quite caustic

It's the first time I tried the cilit bang, there was a choice between that and Mr Muscle in the cupboard. I already knew the latter was crap along with the likes of cif and flash.

Where can I buy the method stuff?

I looked today in a local small store and they didn't have any but I'm going to try and pick some up next time I'm in Town. I'll try a few things that's been recommended here to see which is the most effective.
Mil then won't have an excuse to leave it so long then :)

What is a magic eraser and if it's good where can I get one?

I use stain remover soap, like the vanish hard bar. Or orange oil. Both will cut grease really easily.

I'm not close to any of the shops mentioned - Theone and was just about to despair until I clicked the link.
I do have a sainsbury very close so will have a look next time I'm in.

Do you use it for keeping on top of the grease Whereis? This is thick sticky grease that hasn't been touched in the 8 mths I've been away (probably around 2 mths before that when I last had to remove a build up)

I'm surprised your grease build-up is so bad, CarbeDiem - do your ILs actually use the extractor? I'm a pretty lousy housewife only clean properly in leap years & my cupboards aren't as greasy as that!

Anyway do try the lavender Method, I bet it's just as good as the grapefruit one, will just smell a bit different.

I dunno, with kitchen issues I usually leave purple method and leave it to soak if necessary. Or steam cleaner. Both OK with asthma IME.

I'm pretty slobby, but it's never really got that bad. When did you last change the extracter filter wotsit?
