Cleaning Aga doors

We got an Aga which I love but despite what the sales bloke says about them self cleaning , yeah right. I can't seem to get the roasting oven door totally clean. I've tried fairy, cif and a Brillo pad but nothing works. It's always hot in the oven even when it's on low, so I take the door off, let it cool and then clean it. Any splashes from cooking roast pork, sausages ect just bake on to the inside of the door. Things like Mr Muscle say not to use on aluminium which is what it's made from. Has anyone had any luck with cleaning these?

Bicarbonate of soda paste onto door (taken off to cool a little) leave for a while then rub and rinse off.
