Linen dress

Hi, have just got myself a new linen dress and the label says dry clean on it. I should have checked before buying but didn't think. It's just an ordinary day to day dress nothing special so I'm loathed to keep taking it to the dry cleaners.
Would you hand wash? Has anyone tried with 100% linen?

Hi. I asked this question a few months ago - about two silk dresses that said dry clean only. Consensus was that they'd be fine hand washed. In the end I put them in the washing machine on hand wash with hand wash detergent. And they were fine.

I machine wash linen all the time and have never had a problem - but I don't have any linen that is dry clean only. I imagine the problem might be if it has a lining and the linen might wash differently to the lining.

Ah that's good to know thank you! No the dress has no lining, very simple tunic/dress which is why I couldn't understand the dry clean only label. My other linen trousers are machine washable which is why I thought it odd.

I'll give it a go then and see what happens.
