Will be moving into our house soon so on the lookout for a new washing machine, here's some specs that are what we're after:

7kg or 8kg
1200, 1400, 1600 rpm spin
Pref white, if not silver
Del/installation prefered in price
Quick wash cycle
40 degree wash that doesn't take nearly all day!
Relatively quiet!

Budget is at top end £260!! Now there's a mission. Would be fab if came from Argos as well!!!

Well I just love my Hotpoint.....I had one that lasted me 15 yrs so when it died I bought another Hotpoint. This is the most similar I can find....

ao.com/product/WMUD9627P-Hotpoint-Ultima-Washing-Machine-White-26261.aspx

But mine is about 4 yrs old so slightly older. This is over your budget but I absolutely adore mine because-

I have an 8kg drum and it's brilliant
Spins up to 1600
Comes in white (mine is graphite)
Mine has a 30 min (30deg/800spin0 or 1 hr (60deg/1600spin) quick wash
However- EVERY load can be adjusted- so if I choose the highest/fastest- 90deg/1600spin I can reduce anything- temp down in increments of 10 to 30 then off (cold) or the spin down to 600 or then no spin. There are so many programs, and you can even make up your own and set it in the memory. There are woollen washes, silk, cottons, delicates, spin only, rinse only, pump out, bed & bath washes.....and on top of this there are features such as make any pre set wash a quick wash (eg silk, wool, hot or whatever), eco wash, and child lock as the dial is elecrical- very handy!!!

I just love it! Now, can you recommend me a huge fridge freezer (not american) ??!!

Very highly recommend Bosch WAQ283S0GB_WH washing machine in White - we got from Appliances Online for £349 + delivery. It's awesome.

ClearlyMoo · 20/07/2014 23:02

Which one did you go for?

Crazy8 · 20/07/2014 23:04

Samsung 12kg Ecobubble is amazing.

Any more recommendations? My washer broke down last night, I've had it for 4 years and it cost under £200 so I am not too disappointed apart from the load of washing that is stuck inside.

I do not want to spend a lot of money on a new one and I am not interested in complicated programmes Grin.

Hotpoint are not Hotpoint anymore. They used to be reliable and then they were bought by Indesit; engineer on mine told me many people had been caught out getting what they thought would be another reliable machine, only to find it broke very quickly.

Glad bramblina you like yours though! I have the Ultima and it's not bad; the variety of cycles is good. I find the wash isn't great if you don't run a prewash or if you put in a load nearing the 7kg max. And I have broken the door twice by not noticing the lock was still on and trying to open it (it's a handle not a push button - it meant I couldn't get my washing out!). I have spent your budget repairing it... although I am an expert now at door fitting, doing it through eSpares the second time. If you do buy, put a sticker on the handle to remind you to check the door locked light :)

Samsung Eco bubble. Bought from ao with free delivery and a very long guarantee included.
Before that a big standard, no frills Beko. Bought from curry's. That survived 4 years.
Before that hotpoint . Had the repair people out every month. Everything on that got replaced and in the end they decided to refund me. Problems started within the first year.
The hotpoint replaced an indeshit that kept breaking which was a replacement to another indeshit. Well two actually. First repair on the hotpoint I knew what was awaiting as the repair guy was the same from indeshit.

Oh dear - I bought a Hotpoint Grin - shocked at how long the 'normal' washing cycle is three hours??? Is that common these days?

It does have a 'quick' Hmm 60 minute programme and I used that tonight and it seemed fine.

Will update you if/when it breaks down.
