Cleaning cheese off a new pushchair

Not sure if I'm in the right section but I'm hoping some wise cleaning experts can offer some advice!

We've had our new pushchair (Zeta Vooom) all of three weeks. The other day, when I strapped DD in, I notice a cheesy smell coming from the fabric bit of the harness that goes between her legs.

On investigation, I realised the little darling has shoved a whole Babybel into the pouch thing. It had been there about three days and had completely melted and stuck to the inside of the fabric.

I fished most of it out and scrubbed the fabric with very hot water and washing liquid. But it still pongs! The piece that smells is sewn into the main body of the pushchair so I can't take it off and put it in the washing machine.

If I leave it, it's just going to get worse. Anyone got any tips for getting the cheese smell out? Tia.

Spray with a solution of bicarb and water. Leave to dry and brush off any residue. The bicarb should neutralise the smell. It might take repeat treatments.

Thanks. Before reading this, I attempted to wash with washing up liquid first and then tried washing liquid. It still smells vile. Will try the bicarb trick. If not, it's going to have to be binned. £45 down the drain! Thanks for the tip anyway.

Trained ants to pick it out and eat it?

Bicarb in warm water is good for neutralising the smell, and will also help wash away the greasiness.

Don't mix it with anything acidic such as vinegar or lemon juice or it will be neutralised.

Sorry I missed the preceding.

Love the ants idea!

Thank you wowfudge for the fabulous bicarb trick which has worked a blinder. One neutralised, non cheesy pushchair and one very relieved mum. Thank you thank you.
