Anyone know how to get bleach out of a carpet. Has turned my beige carpet pinky/red. Is it doomed?

Yes pretty much. SorrySad

Are you insured for accidents?

Or could you replace part of the carpet?
Sorry no real ideas.

We have sold the house and move in a couple of weeks to make it worse. Hope I don't have to completely recarpet the stairs!

Unfortunately you cannot get bleach out. It's not a surface stain per-se, it actually removes the colour within any fabric it comes into contact with.

If it's a small spot, then, if you have any spare of the carpet left over, then cut the affected piece out and then patch up with the new piece (this may be difficult on stairs).

But unfortunately, bleach cannot be removed (well the bleach can be rinsed away, but the damage it leaves behind is permanent).

Insurance is a good recommendation, but would you really want to claim for a house you're moving out of?

I would be tempted to try an colour it in with an ink/dye of near enough the same colour

Sorry for not being much help.

I agree. Bleach is not an added colour but takes colour away from what it is contact with. You would have to add colour back into the carpet rather than being able to remove the bleach.

Use a rug.

No way of reversing this.

Thanks very much for all your help. It is the bottom step going into the hallway which is wooden floors. Think we might remove the carpet from that step if that makes sense and polish it.
