That is very useful. I'm inspired to tidy my airing cupboard.

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 06/09/2006 21:08

Too fiddely and time consuming! Fold em best as you can and stuff em in the draw/cupboard!

dreamteamgirl · 16/09/2006 21:50

I dont worry too much about folding mine, cos everything goes inside 1 pillowcase which I fold the edge over on and put that in airing cupboard. It looks so much neater and its all in one place -no hunting for missing pillowcases etc

Is useful link tho, cos it is so hard to do

dislexicicecream · 17/09/2006 09:30

ihave moved house few mounths ago airing cupord is tiny and i have 3 kids and myself so alot of sheets and covers in a tiny space im soo going to try putting sets into pillow cases, if it works imight be able to fit the towles in the cupbord to at last! yay!
really though why r new houses so little ?
thank you

BarefootJasnem · 17/09/2006 09:37

Amazingly, I already do it like that.
I guess I'm on my own...

foxtrot · 17/09/2006 10:19

tissy, i spotted this on martha stewart too, it's a brilliant idea.

saltylams · 17/09/2006 11:18

Can anyone tell me how Anthea Turner does the 'folding thing' with the guest towel. She made something that looked a bit like an oven glove just by folding a guest towel. I realise it is a tragic request and deserve to be ignored but..........!

suzywong · 17/09/2006 11:22

Is there a way? I was pondering this yesterday as I put two fitted sheets away in the kids' cupboard as I just know MIL will tidy the cupboards up while I 'm away and I wanted to do a a yah boo sucks kind of gesture with my linen, Because I am so mature.

JackieNo · 17/09/2006 11:38

Saltylams - look at this thread - I had a go at explaining it (it's a bit thread, but the message is in the most recent 10 or so, I think)

SoupDragon · 17/09/2006 11:39

GET A LIFE!

Sheesh, folding fitted sheets indeed...

anorak · 17/09/2006 12:16

When I was little my mum won £5 for a poem she wrote to a women's magazine about folding up fitted sheets.

Little did all the Antheas reading it realise that most days she was slumped in her pit of a bed blind drunk and urinating on said sheet.

Harharhar...I was so proud of her.

Pleasure dislexicicecream

Once I started doing it I couldnt think why I hadnt before!!

My problem is exact opposite. I suddenly have this enourmous airing cupboard and so much room to lose stuff in! But yes, new houses very very teeny

alexsmum · 17/09/2006 23:08

i'm sorry but life is just way too short for this kind of thing.

controlfreaky2 · 17/09/2006 23:10

hear hear. way too short!

colditz · 17/09/2006 23:12

I don't. I realise that's not helpful, but what I do is take it off the line or out of the tumbler, and squash it flat until it fits on my ironing pile, which then sits there until I give up and put it away unironed. I don't iron except for job interviews and funerals.

marthamoo · 17/09/2006 23:12

Jeez Louise...way too short.

eidsvold · 17/09/2006 23:23

fold in half, roll and shovei n cupboard.

queenceleste · 18/09/2006 09:53

tissy, I loved the Martha Stewart page but didn't understand it - I read it twice but still don't know. My MIL's fitted sheets look just like Martha's in the picture - I know I will never be able to that!

dreamteamgirl · 20/09/2006 15:32

Hoorah!!!

I just folded a fitted sheet and it looked NEAT. Thats a first ever for me

Thanks MN- and Martha of course

madmarchhare · 20/09/2006 15:50

kinhell, perfume for your guests?

Gemmasmummy · 20/09/2006 15:56

This is how I do it: Fold in half lengthways so you have a square-ish shape with a straight bottom and 3 gathered sides. Spread it out on a flat surface. Turn all the gathered edges inwards so the 3 gathered sides are straight. Then fold into quarters, or however many times you want.
