Funny smell in my spare room

Our spare room, which is probably only used about 6 times a years, has started to smell funny - a bit like BO. It is in the eaves of the house so gets pretty warm, particularly around this time of year. I think the smell might be coming from the carpet but it is a new build and we have only been in for 2 years so I don't understand why it would be smelling when the rest of the house is fine. Should I get a carpet cleaner in to see if that makes any difference?

I don't know what kind of carpet and underlay, etc you have, but could it just be that everything in there is getting hot and the room isn't getting aired? For example, if you have a rubber underlay, could that be the cause?

Have a good check for any signs of damp or a leak from anywhere too.

Will have a look round for damp but it doesn't smell like damp. I have been trying to air it out for the last couple of months by keeping the door open and opening the velux windows during the day. Have guests coming next week and am a bit paranoid about it! Maybe will try to febreze the carpet a bit!

Try steam cleaning the carpets then putting shake n vac on it. Smile

Dead mouse?

Yikes - hopefully not a dead mouse! Though it doesn't smell like I would imagine a dead thing to smell like. I think I'll have to get someone in to clean the carpets and see if that gets rid of it.
