If anyone has a cleaner at home or/and has any ironing done, please can you let me know what you pay for it? How often do you use them and where did you see their service advertised (flyers, shop window, online, word of mouth etc)?

I am friendly and reliable and would like to offer both services, if possible. It doesn't sound exciting but I am very thorough in any tasks I do and always work hard.

I am in the process of finally starting up a service and would like to know generally what to expect.

I have a cleaner who comes in once every two weeks for three hours and I pay her £45 a time. She does all the hoovering, bathroom, kitchen, wash floors, change bed sheets, dusting etc. She does also do ironing but DH tends to iron his own shirts so we don't pay for that too.

We've got a three bed semi, no kids or pets so it's not too onerous a job.

Sorry, forgot to add, I found her via the internet. She and her sister run the company. That's how I usually look for businesses.

We previously had ironing done, it was £25 a box (she supplied the box) and collected/delivered. The box was a reasonable size, it typically held workware for 2 of us, a few casual tops plus a kingsize bedding set each week. Found it much easier to work out than per item/per kg charges. I found her online and used her for a particularly busy period.

I have ironing done once a month it's about £4/kg I can't remember the exact price but a full Ikea bag is usually £30.

I expect an ironing service to collect/deliver (not all do) and provide a next day service.

I found it on the internet but I wouldn't change now too someone else bc we get a great service from the company I use atm-what I'm saying is if you offer a great service and high level of customer care as it sounds like you are planning you will get customers who stick with you.

I pay £10/hour for our cleaner, who will spend 2-2.5 hours ironing then the remaining time, up to 5 hours, cleaning.

I can't actually remember how we found her, we've had her for years! I think it may have been a leaflet through the door.

We have a large franchise company clean once a fortnight. It's just under £70 for two people to clean our three bed semi. They are in and out within an hour, and do an okay but not great job. When I have the time/energy I would like to find an alternative.

But, what I like about them is that they provide all their own cleaning equipment (although not, apparently, anything to clean limescale). Also that they sort out cover for sickness and holidays, and there is the flexibility that we can cancel without any problem if we are going to be away. It's less stressful dealing with a company (the office staff are always very helpful) than an individual, if anything goes wrong.

I have a cleaner who was recommended to me by a friend who's been using her for 6 years without a problem, so a good bet. She charges £11 an hour and is really thorough. She brings one or two others with her (family or friends) so sometimes it's 2 of them for 3 hours and sometimes 3 of them for 2 hours.

I also have an ironing lady who charges £10 an hour, including collection on a Weds night and delivery on a Friday night. She will take online payment so I don't have to scrabble around for cash on a Friday night. I end up paying between £15 and £30 a week for ironing for a family of 4, including work shirts and bedding. A luxury for me as I wouldn't iron bedding myself but it's lovely getting into a clean pressed set of bedlinen. My superking bedding must be an utter bastard to iron

Hi. We have a cleaner. she charges £30 for 3.5 hours which I think is pretty cheap for round here. She does an OK job but tbh I could do better job with most things she does - if I had the time/energy/child free time. I am unsure if we will have her long term or not. We will see how she does. If she was doing a great job and getting things to a high standard then I would do it long term. but currently feel a bit like I spend ages tidying etc before she comes (not her fault, I would just rather things were away in the correct place so she can clean).
Then I end up taking the kids out as it's just too much like hard work trying to keep them out the way, particularly if it's raining. and then when I come home I certainly don't get that "wow" feeling when I walk through the door. last week my bath still had visible dirt in it so I had to scrub it - which defeats the object. I'm 9 months pregnant With awful back ache and the whole point is not to have to do the back breaking bits.

I think the problem with mine is that she lacks experience. she is a nice girl and hard working but hasn't been doing it long enough or had her own child filled home to manage so therefore just doesn't know how to do certain things. so I am hoping she will figure it out over the next few weeks and then we should see an improvement in what she does.

We found her on Net mums local. There are a lot of cleaners on there. to be honest I rushed into choosing one and shouldn't have done. she was he cheapest and also the easiest to contact - replying to messages straight away etc rather than just giving me a number to ring. I don't like phoning as I feel like I'm then on the spot so the fact she replies online went in her favour.

12 an hour, for 4 or 5 hours per week per week in London. She sometimes also does the ironing.
We are two adults and one child, in a 3 bedroom terraced in London. The house is always spotless afterwards.

I found her via work colleagues. I posted on our internal website, saying I was looking for someone, so if they knew any cleaner who was looking for extra hours to give me her contact number.

We have cleaner once a week for two hours, found her through a friend and pay 10 p. Hr in west sussex. She is awesome, and house looks fantastic after she has bee but like pp i tidy up first as otherwise she would spend most of the time trying to find surfaces to dust and carpet to Hoover.
As for ironing i do as little as possible, so just dh shirts our cleaner does ironing also at 10 p.hr takes it when she cleans and delivers it back. I agree with pp that turnover is important. A dry cleaners in town says they need a week to do it, so we would have to buy another weeks worth of work shirts if we wanted to use this!
I know of others nearby who pay a lot more for cleaners, and are happy to do so.

We have an ironing lady . She collects one day and brings it back the next .without checking I think its £1 per item for sheets/ duvet covers and 70p per item for shirts and tshirts ( which is what I send ) ,it is a minimum £10 though so if you are under you get charged £10 . Its a must have for me I only get my iron out at home about 3 x a year now.
