How can I make my kitchen sink smell better?

It often just smells sort of stale and makes the kitchen and surrounding areas smell bad. I did caustic soda last week but the smell is back. Please can someone who knows more about housekeeping tell me how to make it lovely or at least neutral on a day to day basis.

it probably needs a good clean out. Can you take the u bend off and the clean as much as you can reach? and depending on what your plug is like you maybe able to clean some bits with a toothbrush? I can get quite far down in my bathroom one but can get nowhere in my kitchen one so guess it varies.

I put bleach down mine once in a while and that seems to help. not very eco friendly though Sad

Also, do you think that stuff is going down the sink when it could go in the bin? E.g. soggy cereal leftovers? Leftover oily sauces?

Zoflora?
Bicarb and white vinegar together fizz which might help

Soda crystals dissolved in hot water poured down the plug hole and left for a while also can do the trick if it's not too grimy down the pipe.

I have the same problem but find bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar does the trick, once a week.

it shouldn't need to be done once a week though. There must be something causing the smell in the first place. I think probably some old food trapped somewhere
