I want a rug to go in front of the wood burner stove we are eventually going to get (long wait with builder doing chimney etc). Does it need to be a specific hearth rug or will any thickish rug be ok? Can't find any hearth rugs and wondered what was so important about them (my mil is going to go on about mine not being safe if I get a regular rug).
