How to prevent pots being knocked off windowsill ?

I'd like to have flowers, herbs etc on my outside windowsill but they invariably get knocked off by my cats! Is there any way of securing them , sticking them on etc?

you could fix a retaining bar across the window, fixed to the wall on each side.

Broomstick would last a year or so (wood will eventually rot, but you could soak in in wood preserver)

Velcro?? Super easy to apply and won't be seen
