Should I buy a steam cleaner?

I know it's all been done before but can't seem to find many old threads!

Been drawn in by vicarinatutu's thread and really fancy getting the Morphy Richards 9-1 steam cleaner. That's around my price range I think if anyone has a better one?

Was also wondering whether I can use it on my bathroom floor. It's like thick textured vinyl type tiles, I'm guessing they're glued down since one is peeling up in the corner. If I just go over them fast would it be ok? In the sitting room I have wood flooring, original floorboard type affair. Can I use it on that? If not how bad would it be if I did? Also got two Welsh dressers in the kitchen and a wooden work top, will it knacker them.

I really want one to play with but fear ordering it and destroying my home!

A steam cleaner is worth it just for cleaning the oven alone.

It's so easy with a steam cleaner.

I use mine on all my floors but I don't have real wood flooring so I'm unsure of this. Check the usage description online to see.

I hadn't thought to check for wooden floors. I'm all het up about steam cleaning my brains been fried. Even if there's a chance it might knacker them I'd probably still do it. Its dog puke stained and chipped so not massively arsed. The bathroom floor however is the bane of my life but I have no idea what type of flooring it is.

I can't see it being a massive problem for your bathroom floor if you can still use them on carpets because it dries really quick it shouldn't be a massive problem for anything else.

You can easily use them on laminate as shown in the adverts so go ahead get one. One of the best investments ever I think.

The husbands just got me a 6 in 1 it's winking at me from the box until the kids go back to school. Wi down, tiles, floors, carpets, oven... can't wait

I think the sitting rooms sealed wood flooring and I've seen lots that say they're fine with that, and I think I've given up caring about bathroom floor, I really want my new toy now that my whole house could warp and fall apart because of it and I'd take the risk!

Now I've just got to decide which one to get. Budget around £50-£70, I want a mop type thing and which separates for grout and so on. Or a cylinder type one. Swaying between Morphy Richards 9-in-1 or a Polti?

I'm finding and buying my own present this year, DP has an easy life.

I've just sent my 9 in 1 back as I found it too feeble, and the hand held bit heavy and cumbersome. I think I'm going to get a cylinder type one instead.
