Karndean and parque floors - steam mop?

I'm bordering on buying a multi function steam mop to liven up my cleaning!

I'm envisaging doing the bathroom, kitchen, tiled walls, windows........ As much as possible with it.

Is it ok to use a steam mop on karndean and parque wood floors?

Definitely not for karndean can't say anything about the parquet but I'd guess no for that too.

Don't know about parquet, but I use a steam mop on Karndean all the time and it hasn't damaged it.

georgedawes · 28/05/2014 21:57

You shouldn't use steam on karndean.. Might be ok now but it's about the only thing that'll ruin it.

RoganJosh · 28/05/2014 22:02

Oops, I've been using it on Kardean.
We used it sporadically on our wooden floor, so I am guessing parquet would be ok unless it's getting massively wet.

Karndean says it depends on the mop

Oh, why's that? I've been using a steam mop on mine for years, in fact I specifically bought it for the Karndean because I had seen so many people recommend it for it! I'm panicking slightly now!

treaclesoda · 28/05/2014 22:07

Yes, I bought the steam mop because I thought I wasn't meant to use chemical cleaners on it.

P3ppaPig · 28/05/2014 22:13

I think it's because the syeam can lift the flooring-ie melt the adhesive!

P3ppaPig · 28/05/2014 22:13

Steam!

treaclesoda · 28/05/2014 22:20

Well, I'm very careful to keep the mop moving and not to let it sit in one spot, so I think I'm happy to keep using it, it definitely hasn't lifted around the edges or anything.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 28/05/2014 22:21

Oh bugger!

I hate normal mopping and was hoping the steam mop might see the pain!

Our floors usually have a bit of flash all in one on them now and then - none of the fancy Karndean special stuff!

That's interesting; Karndean used to give a blanket warning against using any steam mop. Seems they think some are ok after all.
