I've noticed a bad smell coming from kitchen plughole recently. I poured whatsiitsname crystals down (can't remember name sorry), and then a couple of days later the smell was still bad, so got some Mr Muscle sink and plughole unblocker.
I have since discovered that the smell seems worse when washing machine on a spin, rinse or drain cycle - anyone else encountered this and will i need to get a plumber out or a washing machine engineer?

Hmm. Boiling water to melt the fat in the sink, then bleach rinsed through.

I would also run the washing machine on a boil wash empty with bleach through it and rinse plus too.

Do you regularly bleach the sink? Using washable nappies we do run an empty cycle occaisionally too. Dishwasher also gets a regular clean with a proprietary dishwasher cleaner (from Lidl) because it all goes through the one waste pipe.

Have you released the Washing Machine trap to clear it (usually bottom right or left) of the machine. Have you cleaned the trap in the U-bend of the sink. Have you removed and cleaned the soap tray of the machine too. That's usually gross. Have a few question marks for that paragraph ?????

On with the marigolds, but better than the expense of a plumber.
