'Silent' hoovers

Yet again I am figuring out my cleaning rota. We currently have a cleaner costing £20 a week but, well, it's not great. Anyway I was thinking there are only really 5 rooms/areas as such - and of only there was a quiet Hoover so I could clean once dd is in bed. A peek on amazon shows a few 'silent' bagless uprights. Can anyone recommend a silent vacuum and are they any good? I have visions of cleaning quietly, being able to hear the baby monitor etc...or am I deluded?? X

i have an old fashioned ewbank that i use when the children are sleeping. it keeps the worst off so the children can still crawl on the carpets, but we still need to hoover, perhaps once a week, to get out the deep stuff.

Miele make a couple of models with a silence setting, search for S6290 or S8390.

I was going to say the new Bosch G50, when we first got it it was so quiet DH asked if I had it on the lowest setting but I'm not sure over time if it's got louder or if I've got used to the noise.

I think you can compare Db on sites like Argos.

What about those Roomba automatic robot-y hoovers - for some reason I have it in my head that they are quiet Confused

I've been desperate to find a silent Hoover with no luck. DS has ASD and is petrified of the Hoover, we've tried loads advertised as low noise, quiet or silent and all have been no good so were back to the usual hoovering while he's at school and having dusty carpets during the holidays :(

If you find one PLEASE let me know!

I wouldn't say that it's silent, but the new handheld cordless dyson is really quiet. It's my new favourite toy Smile

Ooh I saw them and they look great but expensive.

I have the Bosch Power Silence same as thatwould it is quiet, but you can hear it, however, definitely don't think that it would wake a sleeping baby/child.

Funny that thatwould mentioned that they are not sure if that the machine has got louder, or they have become used to it, we feel same Grin

I actually really wanted the Miele S7280 silent one (I don't like cylinder Vacs) but better half insisted on the Bosch.

HTH
