fridge-freezer in understairs cupboard - can I?

Any reason why I shouldn't put a fridge-freezer in a (large) understairs cupboard? It's the only place I have for it. I wondered about fire risk, but I can put fire alarm / CO alarm in there, and will make sure cupboard isn't used for cardboard boxes, junk etc. It is reasonably ventilated with gap under door, which I could also leave ajar when toddler is in bed.
What do you think?

A friend has the set up you describe and it works for them. Previously we had a small chest freezer in an under stair cupboard.
