Ok, flies are the bane of our lives in summer. We like to have our windows and patio doors open in the day to let air in but flies come in too! DS is terrified of them so I get "mummy, deaded that fly please?"

We've had little plug-in fly killers (useless), a tennis racket thing (too much effort for how many we get), a UV plug in thing that flies just flew around. ..I won't use spray as we have two small children, so is there a tried-and-tested fly electrocuter out there? Can't face another year of leaping around with magazines!

We use the pull out sticky strips that hang down. Works best if front of windows and doors. They aren't pretty put work so treat and are necessary living in a rural setting.

Citronella room spray. We got it in France a couple of years ago and (possibly coincidentally!) we had fewer flies.

These sort. The village shop sometimes sell out of them when it's really bad!!

Not common in UK, but flyscreens over the windows made of very fine plastuc mesh. Especially useful if livestock nearby.

You can also use the vac hose.
