I spilt something and used a carpet spray cleaner which didn't remove the stain so tried not water with some baby shampoo. Stain gone but the carpet absolutely stinks like rotten milk almost! It's so strong what can I do?

Cover the area with bicarbonate of soda, mixed with a little water to make a thick paste. Leave to dry. Hoover up. The smell will be gone.

pet stain and odour remover from pets at home is good.
I recommended it on a similar thread recently.

1001 carpet freshener is good, certainly gets rid of wee smells, though you do need to keep applying it.

Aggie (from how clean is your house) was on tv the other day talking about getting rid of the smell of sour milk and the like. She suggested Milton liquid, obviously you would have to do a patch test first.

I second the bicarbonate of soda advice. Leave it over night if possible.

It got the smell of DD's vomit out of my living room carpet when nothing else worked.
