Not sure if this is the right place but everyone here on Good Housekeeping is so knowledgable! I'm looking for a recorder to record program's on TV hard drive / pvr I think! Anyone recommend what I need & which one to buy? Middle of the road not necessarily all singing & dancing...TIA

We have a Humax. Got it about 5 years ago and it links to Freeview. Cost about 120 at the time of purchase. You can record two channels at once and usually watch a third one, although not with all channel combinations.

Does series record, the guide is good and clear, easy to operate, easy to programme, etc. We have filled the hard drive a couple of times, but usually with stuff we do not need/want to keep.

Humax. They completely rock. We have Virgin with a tivo box thing now and it is just not as well designed. Plus when we bought ours (a few years ago) Humax would regularly update and improve over time. I think it's the only bit of electronics I've owned that actually improves.

Thanks for advice so far! I forgot to mention that we have a membership with amazon instant video...is it possible to stream these "videos" through a pvr so that we can watch the internet direct?? [clueless]
