Dishwasher issues...

My dishwasher leaves residue all over the glasses and often doesn't clean the plates properly. I inherited the dishwasher when I moved house and I think it was new in 2011. When we moved in the previous owner had clearly let it clog up with all kinds of food debris and then fester for a few weeks but we cleaned out the filter, refilled the salt and then ran a couple of cycles with dishwasher cleaner through it but it still doesn't really clean glasses properly and I'm constantly finding a furry/hairy residue in the filter (rank!) which I clean every week. Anyone have any idea how to fix this... Is there another part of the dishwasher I should be unblocking or cleaning that I'm not aware of?

Just had the same problem also with a inherited dishwater, I found I wasn't putting the wash on hot enough, I was using the Eco mode, checked the salt levels and ran cleaner too and tried again but everything was cover in white. Tried hotter wash and it's great Smile

Have you had all the rota arms out and soaked them in piping hot water with soda crystals? Don't use washing up liquid unless you can rinse it all out because if foams up a LOT in a dw.

Are you using rinse aid?

I've just had a similar problem. Turned out the pump was bust

Thanks all. I'll rope my husband into checking the pump and I'll have a go at cleaning the arms. I've tried using all the different wash settings with the same results. We live in a really hard water area so I figure something is blocked up with limescale somewhere.

There might be more than one filter. Check the instructions. You can download them from the manufacturers website.

Hair is very unusual. Have you got a dog?

This is really simple but it worked for me & another friend who had same problem a few years ago. DW were from new and had prevoiusly worked well.
Basically you need to check that your salt container lid is screwed on tightly! I did this and DW worked well again. My friend mentioned her DW was not cleaning well so I checked and tightened lid. Hey presto! All worked again.
