Driven insane by doghair, please help!

Today, I hoovered and mopped all of the downstairs floors (wooden floors throughout). A couple of hours later, DS dropped his lollypop on the floor, when I picked it up it looked like a fur-ball. It's driving me crazy!
We have one dog (chocolate lab) and he seems to be loosing more and more hair each spring/summer. I brush him regularly with an ordinary dog-brush but it seems to be making no difference whatsoever!
Anybody have any suggestions please?
I've even tried hoovering him with the upholstery attachment but it has made no difference!

We have a yellow lab and we brush/hoover him everyday which does make a difference but hasn't completely eradicated the dog hairs that get everywhere. OP I feel your pain.

*Disclaimer he loves to be hovered and gets ridiculously excited whenever we turn the vacuum on.

I asked this very question on here a year or so ago as I was at my wits' end. The best advice was to tackle the problem at source.
I use the furminator on my two, which has helped enormously (not everyone likes them, I know), and I trim their coats too.

We also have wooden floors, but with a few rugs scattered around. To get the hairs off the rugs more effectively, I spray them very lightly with water in a plant spray thingy (just a very light misting) and then hoover. I've found that helps the hairs to stick better.

Thanks for this! I have actually rolled up my rug and had bare floor because i'm so fed up of the rug looking grotty with all the hair. Will try this.

I have to hoover and mop daily and brush dog weekly but i'm going to get a furninatir too.

Furminator?! I like the sound of that, it sounds like something that gets the job done!

I have a rubber sweeping brush for the rugs, as even though my vacuum cleaner makes it look clear of fur, there's loads hiding in there.

I have a dog brush attachment on the dyson. My long haired retriever loves it. I am considering whether a roomba would be a helpful addition to household tools though!

Oh i'd love a roomba. Budget doesnt stretch to it right mow but maybe one day.

I'm thinking about a roomba too, but suspect that the dogs would just attack it :o

This spring was the worst shedding I have ever had the misfortune to live through. Both dogs sleep in our bed, too, you do not want to know what the sheets looked like in the mornings. I am fairly immune to a bit of dirt and dog hair (obviously, if I let them sleep in my bed!) but this was too much even for me. Considered kicking them out of bed but in the end just went for daily changing of all bedclothes and sheets. My washing machine and dryer have probably aged about 10 years due to those few weeks....

I was going to say buy a furminator but I see you've already done it,

Our cat rolls over to have his tummy done with the furminator.

find a good dog groomer who will groom and bathe him and use a high powered blaster on him. this will remove any dead hair and loose hair and you should notice the reduction in loose hair around the house. you will obviously have to go regularly for this to be maintained but it will be worth it, and wont rip or break the coat like a fuminator can. goid luck!
