I haven't bought a bed for years and have no idea how to o about doing so. I would like a king size one with a comfortable mattress and not spend over 500 for bed and mattress. Is this possible?
How long will I have to wait for it to be delivered? Do they take the old one away? Is online always cheaper?

I love ikea beds. We have a bog standard wooden frame with cheapest foam mattress and it's the comfiest bed I've ever tried.
Our council bulk collection service take old beds.

I reckon that £500 for a decent king sized bed and mattress is optimistic. Triple it and you might be edging towards something reasonable. Sorry.

Thanks, lily. Which one do you have? Banana- we could buy the mattress now and put on old divan and get bed later date as cannot spent 1500.

Just checked their website and they have renamed their mattresses but I think it was this one below. The bed frame isn't made any more but it's just a simple pine one like this. I love the bed as the wooden slatted base plus foam mattress make it nice and supportive so you can get in and our of bed and it doesn't make the whole bed wobble. It may be too firm for some but I think it's perfect. Can you pop along and try some out?

I would always spend as much as I could on the mattress rather than the bed itself as a comfy mattress is so essential for a good nights sleep. If you're buying in ikea worth being aware that some of their mattresses are "European" size and don't quite fit British beds.
