Guess what I've been doing all day (with OH's help)...

...I've started to clear out my overflowing mess of a house. We basically have 5 days to do it while OH is off work and my parents can have ds during the day.

So far today we have sorted out ds bedroom, cupboard under the stairs (full of stuff we shoved in there when we moved FOUR YEARS ago - we found some wierd shit ) and the start of the big walk in cupboard in the dining room.

SO now I have piles of stuff all over my house that are waiting to go places e.g. tip, attics, and stuff to go into other places we haven't done yet.

I have somewhere to keep hoover, ironing board, ironing pile/hangers, ds's pushchair etc for the first time ever - I am so pleased.

I have been really ruthless about getting rid of junk. Just hoping we keep up this pace for the rest of the week.

It's very liberating isn't it?

Wow - well done you. It's a great feeling, clearing stuff out, isn't it. Just make sure you do actually get rid of the stuff that's supposed to be going - that's always my problem - I put it into bags to go to the charity shop/tip and don't get round to taking it there for ages.

Can you come and sort mine out please?

It'll be easy as you'll be so experienced - please????

Ooh I feel so smug and so happy - like a big weight is being lifted. My house is so bad, its impossible to keep tidy as there is so much junk.

Doesn't help that every lodger we've had has left behind piles of their shit which has accumulated over time.

It'll be so worth it when it is done and I'm actually finding it quite cathartic , helps me get rid of all the shit from times when I weren't so happy (iyswim).

Stuff is going straight to charity shop - have put it in car straight away, and can drop it off when I take ds to my parents. Only one day and already I have a boot full

Well done you. Have you got a space you can put up hooks for coats, bags etc and a shoebasket? Having this has totally improved our level of untidiness since moving (everything used to hang on one bannister post at the old house).
