I did it. Got a Miele

Clean steel dishwasher. Gulp its just so expensive but I think it will be cheaper in the long run.

In 8 years I have been through 1 x Kelvinator and 2 X LG dishwashers. This latest one I have only had for 2 years!

I have faith that it will be as trusty as my Miele washing machine and tumble drier......

I get it next week. Hurrah!

My Miele vac is going strong after 12 years of use and has survived our house being flooded. I always choose Miele where I can afford to.

magimedi · 08/05/2014 10:00

I left a Miele dishwasher in a house we moved from. It was 20 years old & had had 5 moves.

My current one is 7 years old & going fine. I am good about cleaning the filter & door seal weekly & do run one of those clean it washes, with the special stuff about 3/4 times a year.

murphys · 08/05/2014 10:02

I see they say they have an average lifespan of 20 years, like the washing machine. I will be a great test for that it would seem Wink.

We had a Miele cat & dog upright vac. Died within 3 years. Useless. Put me off Miele

murphys · 09/05/2014 07:56

Elizabeth - I'm sure its that Finish dishwasher cleaner that you put in and run it empty.

magimedi · 09/05/2014 09:51

It is indeed dishwasher cleaner - I use Lidl or Tesco's own - just the same ingredients as Finish & half the price.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/05/2014 16:09

Our dishwasher lasted us 12 years and it was third hand when we got it!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/05/2014 16:11

Ninety-I would complain direct to Meile, if be very surprised of they thought that was acceptable.

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 09/05/2014 18:52

Tbh, we just took it to the tip and bought another vacuum cleaner for less money. Can't be arsed with having broken things hanging around while I get a response from an angry letter. I just won't buy Miele again.

gobbin · 09/05/2014 21:58

We had a bad experience with a Miele cat and dog cylinder. It was just not as good as Which made it out to be. But it's like Audi cars, some will, swear by them and others will have bad experiences I suppose.

The Miele washing machines we looked at years ago certainly felt much better made but we couldn't afford one at the time.

LetItBeMe · 11/05/2014 08:21

Murphys, which model did you get?
I've just ordered the G6100 sc with 3d rack. I'm rathervexcited and delivery seems an age away!

themummyonthebus · 11/05/2014 08:39

We've just moved with our Miele dishwasher. It's been going at least a decade, like the washing machine. Unfortunately I've just realised how noisy it is now we're in an open plan, so I'd quite like it to die so I can buy a new one Blush. I never do any of the maintenance stuff either. I've just looked at the door seal Envy

LetItBeMe · 11/05/2014 09:08

I think you'll be disappointed! I think my new one is 45db. I know I sometimes go to put stuff in my mums miele only to realise its running a cycle. its so quiet.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/05/2014 09:14

We've got a Whirlpool DW, been used pretty well every day for 10 years without a hitch Just keep the arms and filters clean. I do a maintenance run with special stuff once a year or so.

I did the door seals and edges with a steam cleaner this week, wow, it look like new. I used to do them with an old toothbrush and bar-keepers friend which took ages and was much messier.

themummyonthebus · 11/05/2014 09:59

Oh don't say that Letit :(

murphys · 12/05/2014 07:48

Let, I got the G5620SC. I got it for a good price as it was a showroom model in one of the stores. The new models are coming in at the end of May so they are clearing out these ones. Is yours the newest model?

Apparantly on the latest ones you just tap the door twice and it opens Grin. But the price difference didn't really warrant the fact that I can just use the handle on mine hehe...

so would it be worth me spending the extra £100 and getting this one? www.johnlewis.com/miele-g4210-dishwasher-white/p231905597

is the cheapest miele that JL do, but at the top of my budget, I was planning on spending more like £300 on a new dishwasher as mine is dying.

murphys · 12/05/2014 14:23

Help. I definitely would spend the extra. Although we don't get that particular model here in SA for some reason, it is way cheaper than the 6100 which is further down the page. (we don't seem to get that one here either). And i am quite flabbergasted at how much cheaper they are in the UK generally compared to our prices.

The only thing different I can see is that it has the cutlery basket instead of the tray. If you are used to the basket that I doubt that is an issue.

I don't think you will regret it, I have the bottom of the Miele range washing machine - it is 16 years old now and still going strong.

OP posts:
HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 12/05/2014 19:23

Yes have basket in my current dishwasher and one before. My current one was second hand when I moved into this house two years ago and has served me well for free, but fed up of buying new appliances every 2-3 years so thinking spend more and they last longer?

It does seem a bargain compared to the other ones, I wonder what the catch is.

Thanks for your reply.

pengymum · 12/05/2014 20:08

I have that one Help. Bought it at end of November as my old dw died. I got it from Co-op Electrical. There was a £30 off code and I went via Topcashback plus the £50 cashback from Miele plus got £8 vouchers in post on joining the Co-Op. And joining gives yiu discount card for money off your shopping if have a Co-Op nearby.
I am very happy with it. Roomy, quiet and cleans beautifully.
I would have liked a cutlery tray but not for £100s more!
Cutlery basket is great - loads of room. I wouldn't use loads of different programmes. Think there are 4 with Turbo option - suits me just fine.

I strongly recommend it. Look on Hotukdeals for current codes & offers.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 13/05/2014 09:54

thanks pengymum. My sister works at JL so I get a further 12.5% off as I'm her named card holder. I get £50 cashback on it already, but will check out the other options.

thanks for the feedback on it, I did wonder why it was so much cheaper then the others, but if it works and has same workmanship as the more expensive then I'm sold.
