Where to buy white vinegar...

I know this has been done before- but...?

And it's white vinegar, not distilled malt vinegar which is a different product?

I've never found it at Asda!

Any ideas?

it is white distilled malt vinegar - it is with the other vinegars

White vinegar is distilled vinegar it is the same thing and is available in all good supermarkets

Took me a while to find at asda. But at our local one it's bottom shelf next to the malt. Think you can but own brand for 46p. But yes it's clear

Anyone know where you can get it in big jugs, and not teeny glass bottles?

www.wingyipstore.co.uk/p-8501-ellsey-white-vinegar.aspx - asian supermarket maybe

You can also buy large quantities from The Soap kitchen online. I buy the concentrated acid and then dilute as and when needed (you add 7 parts water). 5 litres of acid will last me a year so it works out much cheaper than buy the individual bottles in supermarkets.

Thanks.

some of the cheap stuff is NBC (non-brewed condiment, synthetic acetic acid, not made from gone-off beer), as is used in many chip-shops and takeaway.

If you just want it for cleaning, I'm sure it would work just as well. You can also get Citric Acid crystals, which are very good for descaling kettles and do not have the smell.
