Tips/motivation for decluttering prior to arrival of first baby?

Hiya, I'm due in October and already feeling a strong urge to sort the house out ready for the arrival.

We live in a small, modern house with one spare room which acts as storage and a laundry.

Essentially, our house has no storage space, just one large cupboard in the spare room. So when we have a baby we really can't afford to keep things we don't actively use or have real sentimental value.

I have good intentions, and we regularly discuss what we should do with our 'stuff'... Sell it online? Car boot? The cash would be handy but to be completely honest, the effort required to do either of those things is what making me procrastinate. Part of me wants to just load the car up and drop it off at a charity shop!!

So how do you motivate yourself to declutter? Do you think car boots or online selling us worth the effort? I often see good things selling for just pennies.

Why did I ever buy all this stuff in the first place??!!

I have no advice but could do with some motivation. I'm due November and I have far too much stuff. Think I'm going to just charity shop it, I'm knackered as it is without carboots etc.

I have one tip, I keep a small mamas and papas chest of drawers which I keep in my living room, I put nappies clothes etc inside and store my lo's toys, bouncer etc on the top. Hides a multitude of sins.

if you can afford to give it all away (either at a charity shop or just advertise it for free somewhere local like Netmums noticeboard or local selling groups on Facebook). Then go for it as it will get it all gone and you will feel so much better.

I'm a tight arse and insist on selling it all. makes me good money but doss mean it's hanging around in the meantime.

If you do want to sell, the best way by far is Facebook selling groups. I use closed groups meaning only group members see what I'm posting, as I don't want all my Facebook friends seeing it all really. I make a very good income from doing this and gain lots of space. Smile
