Moths' fluff in shoes. Clean or bin?

Yes, I did check and it is not a goo old hold. Apparently moths leave behind that cotton ball like fluff apart from the holes. What would be best way to clean it? Just wipe it or should be steam cleaned (I have a steam cleaner) or should I bin the shoes? Don't want to get a fungus!

tumble-driers kill moths, eggs and larvae. Steam might make a shoe come unglued, or warp.

the freezer does kill moths, but it is a longer job. You can put a wardrobe full of clothes through a drier in about a day, and they will come out egg-free. I have even put silks and furs through with no apparent damage.

I think the steamer will be hotter so more likely to melt glue or warp plastics.

btw I wonder if the "silk" in the shoe might have been from spiders egg nest?
