Help - Destructonaut strikes again!

I am the Destructonaut. I can destroy any object with my bare hands.

In this case, I have taken the varnish off my mother's dressing table with a spillage of nail varnish remover, leaving a pale mark and spoiling the patina. It's not an amazingly precious antique but it is a nice colour and I have basically knackered it.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can fix it?

Oh! Can only think that a french polisher might be able to help.

You could try this:

Or try shoe polish in a similar colour, that can help.

Apparently...you should try rubbing it with the oil from a nut...walnut or brazil...it's supposed to return the colour. Other than that get a small bottle of wood stain, sand area gently, apply stain then you could re-varnish the whole top. Good luck Not Wink

Brilliant - that's a place to start, at least. Will try that this evening and let you know how I get on. Thanks all.
