My kitchen smells like phlegm :(

When someone has a bad cold and you can actually smell the catarrh from them ? It's like that.

I've hunted the whole kitchen and cannot find where the smell is coming from .

I'm going to clean it from top to bottom this afternoon but anyone have any idea what could be causing this ?

I don't think that particular smell rings a bell but use a sink cleaner and check every corner of the fridge. Our salad drawer has recently had a well past eat by cucumber expiring whiffily. Either that or some rich aroma of DH's goat's cheese.

The only other thing I can think of, has someone been kicking off their trainers at the back door and sauntering through with smelly feet?

I would also check drip tray behind the fridge (it's on the backside of the fridge).

We had it once, the kitchen STANK! (and we are very clean house-wise), we could not find the source of this smell and then we did, the bloody drip tray - I can't remember the smell exactly, except it reeked.

So I would look at this.

It's not as bad now that I've scrubbed the kitchen it's just sort of lingering I'm the only one who can smell it though so maybe I'm just losing the plot
