i tried a cycle at high temp, but the machine still pongs, and some clothes don't smell clean after being washed.

so... i have just bought some soda crystals but have no idea howmuch to put in - no instructions for use in de-stinking washing machines!

anyone? (it's a 1kg pack btw)

(as it dawned on me that the dishwasher hasn't been cleaning well either, and there's a bad small eminating (sp.?) from the waste disposal...)

Have you tried the grandaddy of all drain cleaners - caustic soda? The hardware shop in Kew sells it - you have to mix up. DOn;t get it on you or it'lls burn your arm off to the elbow.

just can't be arsed any more tbh sue, going to leave it to the professionals.

btw, how funny is that shop - stuck in a timewarp i always think! i think the most i've ever spent in there is 60p - only ever go in for "one lightbulb" or "one wooden spoon" (ds was teething ). great that it's survived - unlike the greengrocers - despite the arrival of starbucks, tesco and the like...

I had the same thought myself. It's a mystery how they survive and its such a big shop thats 2/3rds empty. I think its a front for the mafia.
