Paint marks on wooden furniture

Any idea how to get these off? My lovely mahogany table has unsightly white paint marks where movers have squeezed it through a door frame (tsk). I'd love to get them off but have no idea where to start.

Ideas welcome!

Try 0000 steel wool dipped in ordinary cooking oil, and rub very gently. This worked for me, but would recommend trying it out first on a hidden area of wood.
