storing bananas

Where do you store them in summer?
I hang them on a hook but they ripen quickly when it is hot and I get an influx of fruit flies
I thought I could put them in a kitchen cupboard but DH thinks we will get a load of flies in there

They're fine in the fridge. The skin goes black but the flesh is ok.

I use a special Banana Bag from Lakeland which goes in the fridge. The skin may discolour a bit but they generally are good for at least a week.

I keep mine in the garage until we're ready to eat them. The temp in there is a constant around 10 degrees - i.e. cool enough to stop them ripening but warm enough for them not to go black.

I wrap each one individually in cling film and store in the fridge. They don't go black for ages this way.
