All you healthy people - if you cook with coconut oil, does it clog up your dishwasher?

It does mine. I try to get rid of the residue from pans with kitchen roll, but I still get the fatty gunk all round the filter thing at the bottom of the dishwasher. And flecks of white fat all over the bottom of the machine.

At least I assume it's coconut oil - dunno what else could be causing it.

Just think what it is doing to your arteries

MillyMollyMully · 09/04/2014 22:07

Well, it's supposed to be better for your arteries.

But thanks for that most happy thought. Grin

Try a scoop of soda crystals next time you put a load on. It softens the water so makes the detergent more effective and is really good at dissolving fats.

MillyMollyMully · 10/04/2014 05:57

Thanks, EntWife - I must've been putting a load on as you typed, it's running now! But I'll put soda crystals in the next lot, thanks, very easy solution. Thanks

sorry Milly was thinking of Palm oil

PigletJohn · 10/04/2014 23:36

are you using salt and tablets?

MillyMollyMully · 11/04/2014 00:44

Yes, we are Piglet. Is that good? or bad? I use Ecover tablets as a lentil weaver.

I use Aldi's bog standard chemical tablets and have no problem at all with it at all.

PigletJohn · 11/04/2014 01:27

Some people miss out salt, which gives poor results, but you use it , which is fine.

Aldi Almat is a best buy, you could try that.

Are you sure the machine is getting scaldingly hot during wash, and do you keep all the filters clean?

MillyMollyMully · 11/04/2014 01:36

No, I'm not sure....and I don't clean the filters...

Fancy coming round, Piglet??? Wink

FeelingLostJess · 11/04/2014 01:58

Yes!And yes to soda crystals-then again they're great for most things :)

MillyMollyMully · 11/04/2014 10:51

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, PigletJohn. Sooo tempting. Do you bring your own toolbox? Wink Grin

If only - a weekly visit by PigletJohn to sort out all my plumbing traumas, and life would be perfect. Sigh.

As it is, I suppose I'll have to get out the instruction booklet and battle with the filters.
